Computer room monitoring system

The computer room environment monitoring system is a computer network composed of computer network technology, database technology, communication technology, automatic control technology, new sensor technology, etc. It provides an automated, intelligent and efficient technical means based on computer technology and centralized management and monitoring mode. The system monitors mainly power and environmental equipment in the computer room (such as power distribution, UPS, air conditioning, temperature and humidity, water leakage, smoke, video, access control, lightning protection, fire protection system, etc.).

Background Requirements

With the continuous development of information network technology, network equipment rooms of various sizes, equipment types and quantities are widely distributed in the regions where the user’s branches are located. Due to the lack of an operation and maintenance system that is symmetrical with the scale of the operating network, the physical operating environment, power distribution, equipment operation, personnel activities and fire protection conditions of a large number of unattended computer rooms, including possible critical situations, cannot be discovered and handled in a timely manner, and are difficult to be effectively foreseen, prevented and avoided. Therefore, a complete computer room environment monitoring system is very important for computer rooms, IDCs and other places.

The computer room environment monitoring system is to ensure the safe, stable and efficient operation of the organization, to ensure the good operation status and service life and safety of network equipment, and to achieve the maximum investment benefits for users. It is necessary to conduct 24-hour real-time monitoring and intelligent adjustment and control of many environmental variables such as power supply, temperature, humidity, water leakage, air dust content, and many equipment operation status variables such as UPS, air conditioning, fresh air, dust removal, dehumidification, etc. in the network operation environment to ensure the stability of the network operation environment and the security of network software and hardware resources, equipment, and related information data assets.

Project Description

Distribution System

It mainly monitors the three-phase voltage, phase current, line voltage, line current, active power, reactive power, frequency, power factor and other parameters of the power distribution system and the status of the distribution switch. It will alarm when some important parameters exceed the dangerous limit.

UPS power supply (including DC power supply)

The communication protocol and intelligent communication interface provided by the UPS manufacturer monitor the operating status of the UPS internal rectifier, inverter, battery, bypass, load and other components in real time. Once a component fails, the power environment monitoring system of the computer room will automatically alarm. The monitoring of UPS in the system is always in the mode of monitoring only, not controlling.

Monitoring content

1. Real-time monitoring of the operating status and parameters of UPS rectifier, inverter, battery (battery health detection, including voltage and current values), bypass, load and other parts (the specific content of monitoring will vary according to different brands and protocols).

2. Visually display the overall operation data of UPS through charts;

3. Once the UPS has an alarm, the status will turn red, and the alarm event will be recorded and stored, and an external alarm will be issued immediately by dialing, SMS, email, sound and light, etc.

4. Historical curve records: you can query the historical curves of the corresponding parameters within one year and the parameter values (including maximum and minimum values) at specific times, and export the historical curves to EXCEL format, so that administrators can fully understand the operating status of the UPS.

Air conditioning equipment

Through real-time monitoring, the operation status of the air conditioner can be fully diagnosed, and the operation status and parameters of each air conditioner component (such as compressor, fan, heater, humidifier, dehumidifier, filter, etc.) can be monitored. The air conditioner setting parameters (temperature, humidity, upper and lower temperature limits, upper and lower humidity limits, etc.) can be remotely modified through the computer room power environment monitoring system management function, as well as the restart of the precision air conditioner. Even if there is a minor fault in the air conditioner unit, it can be detected by the computer room power environment monitoring system, and timely measures can be taken to prevent further damage to the air conditioner unit.

Temperature and humidity in the equipment room

Temperature and humidity detection modules need to be installed at various important locations in the computer room to record the temperature and humidity curves for management personnel to query. Once the temperature and humidity exceed the range, an alarm will be activated immediately to remind management personnel to adjust the working setting value of the air conditioner or adjust the distribution of equipment in the computer room in time.

Water Leakage Detection

There are two types of water leakage detection systems: positioning and non-positioning. The so-called positioning type refers to a leak detection system that can accurately report the specific location of the water leakage. The non-positioning system is the opposite. It can only report the discovery of a water leakage, but cannot specify the location. The system consists of a sensor and a controller. The controller monitors the status of the sensor and immediately uploads the information to the monitoring PC when the water situation is found. There are two types of leak detection sensors: wired detection and surface detection. The main method used in the computer room is wired detection. The wire detection uses a leak detection rope to surround the flooded area. When a leak occurs, the water contacts the detection line and an alarm is issued.

Smoke alarm

The smoke detector has a built-in microcomputer control and self-checking function to prevent false alarms and missed alarms. It outputs pulse level signals, relay switches, or on and off signals. When smoke enters the ionization chamber, it will destroy the electric field balance of the smoke detector. The alarm circuit will detect that the concentration exceeds the set threshold and issue an alarm.

Video Surveillance

The computer room environment monitoring system integrates video surveillance. The image adopts MPEG4 video compression method. It integrates multi-screen viewing, video playback, video remote transmission, trigger alarm, PTZ control, and equipment linkage. The video system can also be linked with other input signals. Once the video alarm is triggered, it can be linked with other equipment such as dual-detection probes and door magnets for recording.

Access control monitoring

The access control system consists of a controller, an inductive card reader, an electric lock and a door opening button (network system plus a communication converter. The card reading method is a contactless card reading method, and the system effectively monitors and manages the entry and exit of personnel.

Lightning protection system

The working condition of the lightning protection module is monitored in real time through the switch quantity acquisition module, which usually has only two monitoring states: on and off.

Fire Fighting System

The monitoring of the fire protection system mainly involves the collection of fire alarm signals and gas spray signals, and does not control the fire protection system.
