UPS monitoring indicators UPS inspection standards

UPS power supply is a necessary equipment for industrial production, belonging to a type of industrial power supply, especially commonly used in numerical control systems. UPS power supply must ensure safety and effectiveness, as it is an emergency measure in itself.

1、Visual inspection of battery

(1) Check for any deformation or electrolyte leakage in the battery casing, and inspect for loose or corroded battery connectors; Check if the battery terminals are severely oxidized.

(2)Check the insulation of the battery pack, disconnect the battery circuit breaker, and measure the voltage between the positive and negative terminals of the battery and the metal bracket of the battery cabinet (rack).

(3)Check if the battery temperature has increased. The optimal temperature for the battery is usually 20-25 ℃.

(4)Check if there is a battery detection device for the UPS power supply, and if so, check if the sensor is functioning properly.

2、 Battery information

(1)The type, voltage, and capacity of the battery

(2) Please indicate the expiration date and initial installation time of the battery.

(3) Check the number of battery packs and record it.

(4)Check the number of battery blocks in each group and record it,

3、 Check if the battery has failed

(1) Use a battery internal resistance tester to measure voltage and internal resistance, and replace the faulty battery.

(2)Measure the battery terminal voltage while the battery is charging. If batteries with significantly higher than average voltage are identified as “outdated” batteries, they should be replaced in a timely manner.

(3)Battery discharge test: Conduct a discharge test on the battery and record the voltage at each stage (pre discharge voltage, discharge termination voltage, small battery voltage) and the discharge time. If there is a battery with a rapid drop in terminal voltage and is identified as “outdated”, it should be replaced in a timely manner.

(4)Battery charging test: After discharging, charge the battery and check if the charging current is 0.1C10 (C10 is the 10h charging and discharging rate of the battery), otherwise adjust.

Regularly inspect all switching modules of UPS every year, using the method of disconnecting mains 1, mains 2, and bypass power from the incoming side of the power supply, and also check whether the inverter function is normal during the inspection. UPS uninterruptible power supply should avoid frequent startup and shutdown, and ensure that the switching function of the long switching module is accurate while keeping the time in the startup state. If it is necessary to shut down, it should be turned on at least 5 seconds after shutdown.

Check if the UPS power supply wires are aging. If they are aging, they should be replaced with wires of the same current carrying area in a timely manner, and unnecessary wire lengths should be avoided as much as possible. Check if the mains power supply is in normal operation. If the indicator is always working normally, the battery will have no chance to work and may be damaged due to long-term float charging. Therefore, the UPS uninterruptible power supply that has not been used for a long time should be manually forced to work regularly, which can activate the battery and also verify whether the UPS uninterruptible power supply is in normal condition.
