APC UPS

Manage APC UPS power supply through the network

Like other devices, the management and control of APC uninterruptible power supply can also be connected to the network for remote control. Especially when the power supply is abnormal or interrupted and switches to APC UPS power supply, it is necessary to notify the critical loads it carries and use communication functions to allow IT loads to safely and automatically shut down before experiencing unexpected power outages due to battery depletion.

However, although this is the most direct and important APC UPS power communication function, there are other significant advantages to online control. Especially, it can monitor and correct the battery working status of APC UPS power supply, and display the health status of other components of APC UPS power supply system in real time, and provide assistance for remote management personnel and technical personnel for operation.

However, not all APC UPS power supply users desire fully bi-directional communication and control functionality, as there are security concerns if unauthorized individuals gain remote access control over the APC UPS power system. Many organizations adopt APC UPS power systems that provide timely status information and then have trained staff perform appropriate response and maintenance.

Different communication methods for APC UPS power supply

The APC UPS power system has communication options of different levels of complexity, which can meet a wide range of application needs. The simplest setup is to use the dry contact card AP9613 (a dry contact is an electrical switch with closed and open states, with no polarity between the two contacts and can be interchanged), which can transmit the operation status of APC UPS power supply to remote monitoring stations or local building management systems (BMS) for integration with other building monitoring assets. This solution can also accommodate control signals for APC UPS power supply, such as remote shutdown commands issued as part of on-site emergency situations.
