Santak UPS

Pay attention to discharge and keep Santak UPS away from strikes

I believe most friends only know how to continuously charge Santak UPS power supply, but do not know how to discharge it in a timely manner, let alone how to discharge it correctly. In fact, properly charging and discharging the UPS power supply is an important part of proper maintenance and upkeep. If we only pay attention to its charging and do not pay attention to its discharging, the UPS power supply will also experience a “strike” phenomenon at any time, because most of the batteries used in the UPS battery pack are lead-acid batteries, which generally have self discharge phenomena. If we ignore its discharging phenomenon, it will not take long for it to “strike”, and in severe cases, it can have a fatal impact on the UPS. Generally speaking, we should take measures to prevent UPS batteries from undergoing deep discharge, as frequent excessive discharge can greatly shorten the battery’s lifespan. Although many well-known brands of UPS batteries currently have excessive discharge protection, discharging UPS batteries with a small load or even without load can easily cause deep discharge. If the UPS battery undergoes deep discharge, it will take at least 12 hours to fully charge the battery when we recharge it, which will greatly reduce the efficiency of UPS battery usage.

Under normal circumstances, UPS batteries from foreign brands can last for about 7 to 8 years, while some domestic brands typically have a lifespan of 3 to 4 years. However, if we do not pay attention to the discharge phenomenon of UPS batteries, regardless of the brand, they will soon be scrapped. But as long as we start from the details and discharge the UPS power supply every three months, we can ensure that the lifespan of UPS batteries is not compromised. In order to effectively extend the service life of UPS, we must pay attention to the discharge of batteries and ensure that UPS batteries are always in an efficient working state. The specific steps for discharging the UPS power supply are as follows: first, connect the output terminal of the UPS power supply to 50% of the load, then disconnect the mains power supply to keep the UPS power supply in a discharging state. During the discharging process, monitor the voltage at both ends of the UPS power supply. Once the terminal voltage drops to about 10.5V, connect the mains power supply to continuously charge the UPS battery for about 10 hours. This way, the activity of the Santak UPS power supply battery will not be affected.
