PDU (Power Distribution Unit) Room Equipment Connection Types( Part 2)
Monitoring equipment includes video surveillance cameras, environmental monitoring sensors, and access control systems. The PDU powers these devices, enabling real-time monitoring of the data center environment and equipment, ensuring the data center’s safety and normal operation. Dorst rack-mount power distribution units can work in conjunction with data center environmental monitoring systems. Some models can connect to external sensors such as temperature, humidity, and smoke detectors. When environmental parameters exceed preset ranges, they can trigger alarms on the monitoring equipment. Their stable power supply prevents monitoring interruptions due to power outages, safeguarding data center security.
UPS Uninterruptible Power Supply : UPS provides temporary power support to critical equipment during mains power outages, ensuring equipment can be shut down normally or continue operating for a period of time with backup power. The PDU can distribute power to the UPS and can also be used to connect the UPS output power to other devices. Dorster rack-mount power distribution units support dual power input redundancy and can seamlessly interface with UPS to achieve smooth switching between mains power and backup power. Their intelligent models can monitor UPS power supply status in real time and generate energy consumption reports, providing data support for data center power planning and energy-saving optimization. Some models also feature dynamic load balancing technology to optimize UPS power supply efficiency and extend UPS lifespan.
KVM Switches : KVM switches are used to control multiple servers or other devices using a single keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The PDU powers the KVM switch , facilitating centralized management and operation of multiple devices by data center administrators. Dorster rack-mount power distribution units support multi-unit cascading management, supporting up to 16 cascaded devices. All connected devices can be centrally managed through a single IP address. Administrators can simultaneously manage the power of the KVM switch and other devices via a web interface or mobile app, further enhancing the convenience of centralized data center management and reducing maintenance costs. In addition
, Dorst rack-mounted power distribution units offer the advantage of flexible customization. The number and type of sockets can be flexibly selected according to the actual number and power requirements of the equipment in the data center. They also support multiple installation methods, including horizontal and vertical installations, and are compatible with different rack layouts. With an average mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 100,000 hours, they can provide long-term and reliable power distribution and management services for various equipment in the data center, meeting the needs of all scenarios from small and medium-sized enterprise data centers to large data centers.
