UPS power supply and PDU, maintenance bypass unit
In computer room power distribution, it is common to encounter a shortage of UPS output sockets. What to do? Buy more sockets to expand by 3-4, but what if there are more? Buy more sockets. At this point, you can consider a PDU, especially when you need to monitor various power supplies.
PDU: Power Distribution Unit
It might sound like a simple power strip, but it’s not. In addition to basic power strip expansion functions, a PDU includes overcurrent and overload protection, surge protection (SPD), leakage current detection, EMI filtering, power parameter indication, communication network monitoring, and dual power supply switching. Moreover, it can be aesthetically installed in a network cabinet. Of course, these functions can be selected according to specific needs.
For a UPS power supply, simply connect the UPS output to the PDU input.
Maintenance Switch Module
As we all know, UPS has a special function called maintenance bypass. The purpose of maintenance bypass is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the load equipment when the UPS power supply needs maintenance or repair, and to achieve electrical isolation from the UPS internal circuitry to ensure safety.
However, not all UPS systems have a maintenance bypass function. For systems below 10kVA, especially low-power systems below 3kVA, a maintenance bypass unit can be configured if the customer’s application environment has special requirements. This unit can generally be installed in a 19″ rack.
To connect a UPS power supply to the maintenance bypass unit, the UPS’s AC input and AC output need to be connected to the maintenance bypass unit socket or terminal block, respectively.
PDU and maintenance bypass integrated module
What if you need multiple sockets and protection for each power source, and also require a maintenance bypass function? You can use a PDU and maintenance bypass integrated module. Of course, you can also select PDU and maintenance bypass units separately according to the actual power application on site.
