APC UPS

Working principle of UPS in computer room

The low-power 1-3KVAUPS uninterruptible power supply is mainly used in IT equipment, using voltage and frequency stabilization technology to correct voltage and frequency, protect computers and other equipment from damage, and more importantly, ensure that data is not lost, comprehensively solving various problems of the power grid, including power outages, power grid surges, high-voltage spikes, transient overvoltages, voltage drops, frequency drift, clutter interference, etc.

1. Working principle

(1) When the mains power is normal, the input relay RY2 is closed, and the ACIDC boost power factor correction circuit composed of boost inductor L9, bridge stack REC1, boost switch Q14, diodes D10 and D11 generates two DC voltages DCBUS (C13. C12) required for inverter operation. Then, the DCBUS DC is converted to AC by inverters Q13. Q12, filtered by L1 and C2, the upper end of output relay RY1 is closed, and the output AC is supplied to the load.

(2) When the mains power is interrupted, the energy stored in the battery is converted into two DC voltages, namely DCBUS voltage (C13, C12), as input to the inverter through the DC to DC converter (DC-DC) Q4, Q6, Q10, Q11 boost switch tubes, TX1 boost transformer, and subsequent rectification and filtering circuit. After being inverted by DCIAC, it outputs AC to maintain uninterrupted output.

(3) When the UPS is abnormal, the input mains power is closed through input relay RY2, and the lower end of output relay RY1 is closed, directly outputting to the load through the bypass.

2. Instructions for using UPS uninterruptible power supply

(1) Regularly maintain the UPS power supply: clean the dust inside the machine, measure the voltage of the battery pack, replace unqualified batteries, check the operation of the fan, and detect and adjust the system parameters of the UPS.

(2) Overloading is prohibited.

(3) It is prohibited to frequently turn off and on the UPS power supply. Generally, it is required to wait for at least 6 seconds after turning off the UPS power supply before turning it on. Otherwise, the UPS power supply may enter a “startup failure” state, that is, the UPS power supply enters a state of neither mains power output nor inverter output.

(4) When using UPS power supply, it is necessary to comply with the manufacturer’s product manual to ensure that the live wire, neutral wire, and ground wire connected meet the requirements. Users are not allowed to change their mutual order arbitrarily.

(5) The placement of UPS power supply should avoid direct sunlight and leave sufficient ventilation space. At the same time, it is forbidden to connect inductive loads to the UPS output port.

(6) Strictly follow the correct startup and shutdown sequence to avoid significant voltage fluctuations in the UPS power supply due to sudden load increases or decreases, which may cause the UPS power supply to malfunction.
