APC UPS

Common Knowledge about UPS (2) – Working Principle of UPS

The working principle of UPS mainly includes the following parts:

1. The rectifier converts the input alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) and charges the battery. The quality and efficiency of rectifiers directly affect the performance and stability of UPS.

2.Battery is one of the core components of UPS, used to provide power in the event of a main power failure. Common battery types include lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries. Lead acid batteries have lower costs but shorter lifespan; Lithium batteries have a higher cost, but a longer lifespan and more stable performance.

3. The inverter converts the direct current (DC) provided by the battery into stable alternating current (AC) for use by the load equipment. The conversion efficiency and output stability of inverters are important indicators for evaluating the performance of UPS.

4. Static Switch is used to quickly switch power between normal and abnormal grid voltage, ensuring that load devices are not affected by power interruptions. Online UPS usually adopts dual transformation technology and does not require static switches; The backup and line interactive UPS need to rely on static switches for switching.
