What is the function of UPS power rectifier?

A rectifier is a part of a power supply, equivalent to a charger for a UPS power supply, and is a collective term for a group of diodes that can convert current from AC to DC. Rectifiers can be made of solid-state diodes, vacuum tube diodes, mercury arc tubes, or stacks of copper oxide and selenium, and are widely used in many industrial, scientific research, environmental protection and other fields that require industrial power supply in China.

A rectifier is a device that converts alternating current into direct current, and its function is opposite to an inverter. An inverter converts direct current into alternating current, filters it, and supplies it to a load or inverter. The rectifier is used for charging UPS batteries and does not require power supply to the load. However, in a dual conversion online UPS power supply, the rectifier not only supplies power to the inverter but also charges the battery. Modern rectifier chargers are divided into two types: step-down and step-up. The step-down type is mainly used when the UPS battery pack voltage is lower than a certain value of the input AC peak voltage, while the step-up type is mainly used when the UPS battery pack voltage is higher than the input AC peak voltage.
